Family Archive Photos

My grandparents traveled the world extensively from the 50's through the 90's, always photographing their adventures.

Their photos comprise a vast and illustrative record of mid-century life.

Both artists themselves, each photo is an expression of their interests, skill and curiosity.

Their photos inspired this look in both silhouette and material choice.

A camp shirt and linen shorts evokes the spirit of travel that electrifies their photos. The matching set is a nod to my grandmother’s matching sets, but manifested in the staple pieces of my grandfather’s sensible, but never thoughtless, daywear.

The look is accessorized with the 1939 Leica camera that my grandfather used to take the inspiration photos above.

Wearing clothes inspired by theirs, as I am inspired by them in life, creates an interface through which we can experience the world with one another.
